You will find here the list of the features of the project GameLAN.
GameLAN platform:
Features common to the Client , to the Server and to the development kit (SDK) :
- Cross-platform : Windows , Linux / Unix
- cordial and intuitive graphic interfaces (use of the GTKmm library)
- dynamic management of many themes for the graphic interfaces
- you can change the language of the graphic interfaces without having to restart. French, English and Japanese languages available
- An embedded Python interpreter allowing to run the games in the GameLAN format
- Network capacities of the video games (use of pyEnet, Twisted libraries)
Features common to the Client and to the :
- possibility of taking part in an instantaneous discussion or “chat” on the game server
- management of smileys in the chat
- personalization of the chat
- participation in multiple private chats simultaneously
- encoding of the information transmitted between Client, Server and MegaServer (use of the library crypto++)
- Possibility of using the Client and/or the Server behind a router, a HTTP proxy or a SOCKS5 proxy with or without authentication (use of the library libcurl)
- persistent data back-up for each game which supports it
Features common to the Client and to the development kit (SDK) :
Features specific to the Client :
- solo game: do not require internet connection
- multi-player game on a game server: require an internet connection
- possibility of connecting to several servers simultaneously
- management of a list of available game servers
- management of a list of GameLAN games available for downloading
- management of a list of downloading of games(
- spectator mode allowing to follow a game in progress
Features specific to the Server :
- create and manage a server of game
- connect to a remote server and manage him
- confidentiality: public or private (with password)
- expulsion, banishment, management of a list of banned users
- choice of the game dedicated to the server among a list of games available on the aforementioned server. Possibility of changing game without having to restart the server
- management of the beginning and the end of the game
- parameter setting of the game if this one offers parameters
- a log which records the activity of the server
Features specific to the development kit (SDK) :
- creation, modification of a GameLAN game
- management tree structure of the game
- integrated editor of Python scripts of the game. Editor based on the library Scintilla and offering syntax styling or code completion
- medias reader (images, sounds, videos, 3D models...)
- test and debug of solo and multiplayer games

Internet site of the GameLAN project is based on NPDS, a Community Management System. It allows mainly to:
